Everything Else is Noise

“He who observes the wind [and waits for all conditions to be favorable] will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap.” Ecclesiastes 11:4
The biggest cheerleaders you will have in this life (for me anyway) is your Mother and Grandmother. They cheer for you from the sideline, in front of the sideline and even when you’re fast asleep at night, away from the sideline. They go to war should anyone do or say anything against you. There is no denying a mother’s love. Fast forward to today and although they’re not physically here with me, it is possible that no one may ever love me like that again (God and Vanessa excluded).
Stepping out on faith to travel the world, pursue your passions, build a brand, live authentically and start a business is a spiritual journey. There is excitement, hard work, anxiety, joy, peace, hope, and then the reality that everyone is not coming along with you on this journey and not every one will support you in it, let alone, prove that support. Finally embracing this truth and that it is, perhaps, the walk that many globe-trotters, small business owners and freelancers face; I decided to let go and let God (in other words, I surrendered). At the end of the day, I have no control over who my cheerleaders in life are or where that support comes from. But what I do know is that the Universe always puts the ‘right people’ in your path for the new journey ahead. People who you never saw coming. Experience, discernment and wisdom has shown that the ‘right people’ don’t always share the same demographics, they aren’t always tied by blood, a long history, or even familiarity.
When you really have hope and you’re putting your dreams into action, it quickens the dead bones around you. Why the folks I expected to show have not shown up is irrelevant. My focus is on the ones who do show up and who show up constantly. They get it. They understand. They are the cheerleaders, the niche, the ‘ride or dies’ and everything else is noise.
